A quiet first day..... not

We were planning to ease ourselves into it on our first day but it was pretty full on.

First up, we walked over to Times Square where they were setting ip for the Tonies. It was pretty quiet when we got there but it was soon going to liven up. Sunday was Puerto Rico Day with a massive parade down 5th Avenue.

We started at the Rockefeller Centre with a tour of the centre. A fascinating look at the history of the centre together with some amazing art. Then to the top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, otherwise known as 30 Rock for some fantastic views of the city.

Then a bus tour of Uptown. It had turned into a really hot and humid day so we should have loaded up with drink before we went. Up Upper West Side, through Harlem and down Upper East Side. We had planned to walk through Central Park but the bus was diverted away by the big parade. And I mean big, they were expecting 3 million people. The noise of the parade was amazing. We finally made it across and back to the hotel really thirsty.

Anyway, a good meal at the hotel restaurant washed down with a very nice bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir.
