Day 2 - Downtown

We headed downtown yesterday and took the bus through Greenwich Village to Battery Point at the Southern tip of Manhattan.

This is where you can take a trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. However, the queue was enormous so we decided not to wait. Instead, we took the ferry to Staten Island which had the added bonus that it was free.

It wasn't as hot and humid as it had been in Sunday so it was a much better day for sightseeing. The ferry passes the Statue of Liberty so e got a good view. After a cup of coffee we got the return ferry back (there's not a lot to see) and headed up to Central Park. We walked through he park for a while but could only see a small part of it as it's huge.

We were headed up to the George Keeley pub to meet Justin, the chairman of the New York Canaries. It also happens to be a specialist beer pub so there was plenty on offer. After. a couple of very good beers (for Glen's benefit, a Dogfish Head 90 Min Pale Ale and a local IPA), Justin recommended a nearby French Restaurant for dinner. We're certainly eating well.
