After breakfast at the Westway Diner, we picked up the car from Hertz. Again, good friendly service. We'd booked a car with SatNav but they didn't have one so we got upgraded. We now have a Chevy Traverse for 3 weeks - it's huge!
We used the SatNav to get us out of New York and as we left the rain started coming down. We drove up the West side of Manhattan and across the Hudson River on the George Washington Bridge. So far so good.
Then the SatNav said keep left. No sooner had I got to the left lane when it said bear right. No time to react and we were headed West into deepest New Jersey. It seemed ages before it said to turn off but we eventually made the I-87 interstate and headed North up the Hudson Valley.
By now the sun was out and it was a nice easy drive around Albany and on to Saratoga Springs. We then found out that the SatNav doesn't like to be ignored. I'd decided to take the road alongside Lake George and was then advised for the next 15 minutes to u-turn. I had to switch the b#>%*y thing off.
We're here now in Stowe and have met up with Carole's sister. The town is picture-postcard beautiful and the Inn that we are staying at is great - chalk one up to Tripadvisor.
